Mekhong and Saigon
From Phnom-Penh it took 8 hrs to reach the vietnamese border (~200km), then 2 hrs to cross, and 3 more to reach saigon (HCM). on the way there were hundreds of kids flying small vietnamese kites, and deltas too. never seen so many kitefliers in vietnam. we passed, because we were too tired to stop that bus :)

Dalat Mountains and Dak-Lak
Now we understand why we never saw many kites in vietnam! In Dalat they told us that kites are mainly or only flown in the mekong region! Oops, but we'll take the advantage and show it up at the mountain peoples.
And we hope that we make it up to Da-Nang, where we know kitemakers...

the making of the bamboo!

Nha-Trang and Da-Nang
incidently no more time for kiteflying. narrow in time, we found that there were no direct flights to BKK, and that the flights from SGN were all booked out, same as flights to Da-Nang. so we left Nhatrang at dusk with a night train for Da-Nang.

The sad thing: We had no time to visit kitemaker Buu Kiem, well known from our visit in 1998.

in boun-ma-thuot district
phlat tire, and tired, too.

With no more time left, we went back to Bangkok.
